A roof in Connecticut & Massachusetts is subject to many external factors like temperature extremes, snow, ice dams, wind, humidity, and close proximity of tree coverage. These conditions can directly affect the longevity of the roof shingle and are why it’s so important to choose an experienced and professional roofer that does the job with exceptional workmanship and uses only the best roofing quality roofing materials.

While the roofing shingle manufacturers we use today (like Owens Corning) currently offer 50 year lifetime warranties, this wasn’t always the case in the past. We advise homeowners that 12 years is a good timeframe to request a roof inspection, considering the above factors.

There are multiple factors that can determine how much a new roof will cost like experience and quality of the roofing contractor, the type, brand, and grade of roofing shingles, the size of the roof, and the slope and shape of your roofline.

Don’t choose your roofing contractor based on cost alone! Price will always be a factor, but there are many other components to consider in getting the quality roof that you deserve. Remember that the workmanship of the roofing contractor and the quality of the roofing materials have significant value. Simply hiring the cheapest roofing contractor could end up costing more in the long run if you need more frequent repairs due to mediocre/poor installation and workmanship.

Shingle manufacturers will not warrant second layer roofs. Also, by adding layers you cannot address: underlying issues, possible leaks, ensure proper attic ventilation and re-flash chimneys, or problem areas. Due to this, LA Roofing does not advise and will never install a second layer on a roof regardless if it’s at a homeowners request.

Since roof replacements and roof repairs can be a noisy and messy process, you may wish to consider going somewhere else for a few hours once the roofing contractors begin pulling off the old shingles. Consider the potential disturbance to your pets, as well. Unfortunately, there’s no way around this, but we do our best to minimize inconvenience during this roofing process. There are some additional things that you can do to be prepared for the date of installation.

• Park your vehicles in the street the night before the installation date. The materials, dumpster, and crew will need to occupy your driveway, so relocating your cars helps keep them safe and out of the way of stray shingles and nails. It’s not advised to keep vehicles in your garage so that it won’t get blocked in (even if you don’t plan to leave for the day, emergencies may arise) and the vibrations of the roof removal may cause some debris to fall within the garage.
• While we have done thousands of jobs without issue, we still encourage customers to protect any item with high value inside your home. Since we will be working on your roof all day, the vibrations could upset something that is not secured.
• Cover or move anything of value from the yard. We’re not as familiar with your yard as you are, so either move or alert us to any item we need to avoid affecting.
• We will take all precautionary measures to protect the items on your property – from covering items with a tarp in the garage or yard to using a blower to remove any residual dust.

LA Roofing is certified with the best brands of shingle manufacturers so that we can offer premium 50 year limited lifetime warranties, which are transferrable once in the lifetime of the roof. In order to transfer an extended warranty we advise that you visit the manufacturer website for the most accurate and up to date contact information to request the transfer. For your peace of mind, LA Roofing also offers a 10 year workmanship warranty for every full roof replacement. If you are moving, give us a call so that we can send over a workmanship warranty transfer form to have signed at your closing.
